About Us

This website is dedicated to re-electing Eddie Parks as President of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA) and to electing Kathy Stewart as Secretary-Treasurer of OCSEA.

We hope to bring you news of where Eddie and Kathy will be speaking. Also we will try to keep you up to date on their efforts to REPEAL SB 5.

Eddie L. ParksEddie L. Parks

Elected on a platform of creating a member-driven union, in 2007, OCSEA President Eddie L. Parks has been a state employee since 1983 as an Energy Specialist for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

He is currently an AFSCME International Vice President and has served on the Ohio Deferred Compensation Board. He also serves as an Executive Board member of the Ohio AFL-CIO and a member of the state’s Ohio Department of Veterans Services Advisory Committee.

Accomplishments

- Moved OCSEA to a member-driven union

- Created the OCSEA Leadership Academies

- First ever Ohio Next Wave Conference

- Elected Co-Chair of the We Are Ohio Executive Committee and Serves as Chair of the Steering Committee

- Executive Board Member of the Ohio AFL-CIO

- Increased Accountability of State Board of Directors

- Recognized Statewide Labor Leader and Activist

- International Vice-President of AFSCME International

- Lead the effort to gather 1.3 million signatures against SB5

- Beat back the privatization of the Lottery Commission

- Lead OCSEA to the #1 Ohio Affiliate in PEOPLE numbers and #1 among the entire mid-west

- Launched a comprehensive volunteer member driven external organizing campaign, not seen in over 20 years

 


Kathy StewartKathy Stewart

Kathy Stewart is an employee of the Department of Administrative Services. She served as president of her DAS Chapter 2570 from 1987 until being elected OCSEA Secretary-Treasurer in 2003.

She became involved in the union as a steward in 1986. She is a former District 6 Council Secretary and has served on the OCSEA Board of Directors since 1987. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Director’s Finance Committee. She is the past Chair of OCSEA’s Women’s Action Committee. With only two exceptions, Kathy has served on every bargaining team since OCSEA members obtained collective bargaining rights in 1986.
